HYDROSURVEYING

RVE performs hydrosurveys utilizing a GPS receiver and electronic depth finder. These units communicate with a laptop computer in the watercraft allowing personnel to drive along a GPS-controlled survey transect line while electronically obtaining depth and horizontal location data. The data is then uploaded from the computer into a CAD workstation where contours and volumes can be generated. When compared to conventional methods, the time and expense required is substantially reduced in the field and in the office.
